Grayling is donating 100% of the proceeds from this necklace to Endo Black Inc., a Black-women-led organization that advocates for African American women and women of color affected by endometriosis*, who often experience racial bias in medical spaces and are frequently misdiagnosed.
Each necklace is handmade one at a time by Grayling, in Portland, Oregon, whose founder, Katy, has a history of Stage 3 extrapelvic endometriosis. Diagnosed in 2016, Katy has struggled with chronic pain since age 14, fertility challenges for over a decade, and multiple invasive surgeries.
In 2020, Katy met Lauren, the Executive Director of Endo Black, and Grayling became an instant benefactor. The introduction of this necklace will increase Grayling's ongoing donations. These donations will directly support African American women and women of color affected by endometriosis.
As with all pieces Grayling creates, the details are everything. This design features a radiant crystal centerpiece on a delicate chain in the signature colors of Endo Black. Available in sterling silver or 14-karat gold fill (that wears like solid gold), both versions are safe for sensitive skin. This classic design will amass plenty of compliments wherever you go, and you'll be helping an incredible cause!

*About Endometriosis: Though most commonly found in cis-women, endometriosis can affect anyone. According to the World Health Organization, endometriosis is a disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain and/or infertility. It is a chronic disease associated with severe, life-impacting pain during periods, sexual intercourse, bowel movements and/or urination, chronic pelvic pain, abdominal bloating, nausea, fatigue, and sometimes depression, anxiety, and infertility. The variable and broad symptoms of endometriosis mean that healthcare workers do not quickly diagnose the condition. At present, there is no known cure for endometriosis. There is a need for more research and awareness around the world to ensure effective prevention, early diagnosis, and improved disease management.
